The United States is no longer a real democracy. American politics is controlled by 10,000 or so extremely wealthy and politically-connected people and companies. The politics they’ve invented does only one thing well: they are extremely good at manipulating public opinion to support their narrow interests. Along the way, democracy has been thrown out the window: this warped politics purposely ignores the real lives and challenges and ideals of the 99% of Americans who don’t benefit.
If we’re going to take back our politics, we have to ignore the mass-marketed politics of opinion polls and sound bites and attack ads and fraudulent interest groups. We have to become citizens again, which means sharing our views with others in a meaningful way. We need to generate a politics that “trickles up” from the views of ordinary citizens rather than is forced upon us.
Trickle Up Politics is a media hub that illuminates the real politics of Americans on the issues that matter most. We provide engaging interviews with a wide diversity of normal Main Street Americans who share their views on the issues that matter most to us. Our hope is to spark a real political conversation that represents the people, not the oligarchs.
